Have a question? Interested in commissioning work?

Read about the commissioning process below and send me a message.

Commissioned art is a shared journey. I look forward to walking it with you.

The Commissioning Process

  • Dialogue and Design

The process of commissioning a work of art begins with an exploratory conversation: you sharing your vision while I ask questions and gain an understanding of what it is you have in mind. Initial communication takes place through email via the contact form and then moves to a phone conversation.

After understanding your vision, I will propose a detailed agreement outlining the scope of work, estimated pricing and estimated completion time. Your approval and signature begin the design phase of the project, which is billed hourly. During the design phase I will present concept sketches for your review. Upon your approval of a concept, a non-refundable 50% deposit secures your spot in the commission queue.

  • Forging and Fabrication

Throughout the production process, you will receive periodic updates to keep you informed on the progress of your artwork. When the art is completed, you may request a photo of the finished piece – or, as many collectors do, you may wish to keep it a surprise until you see it in person.

  • Delivery and Installation

If the piece can be shipped without requiring onsite installation, the final 50% plus shipping costs are due upon completion of the piece. Once payment is received, I will prepare the artwork for secure shipping and send it to your address.

If the piece requires onsite installation, the subsequent payments will be divided into two installments: 25% upon completion of the piece, and the final 25% plus installation costs, which are billed hourly, upon installation.

After receiving your commissioned artwork, I invite you to share your thoughts and images with your community and on social media, as it is primarily word-of-mouth recommendations that keep the sparks flying in my forge.
